Raw Material SOP
"Herstellung einer 2 M Lösung Tricin pH 8,9 (Ammoniak)
Zur Chargenbewertung werden 50 ml Lösung angesetzt.
M = 179,2 g/mol
From an SOP for handling various pharmaceutical raw materials. I don't understand the phrase "über 0,2 µm sterilfiltrieren". Filter through 0.2 µm of what? And how do I fit the sterile bit in there? "Sterilely filter" sounds VERY clumsy. TIA for your assistance.

sterile filter the solution over a 0.2 µm filter
meant is the process of filtering through a pore size of 0.2 µm, which largely eliminates bacteria, since they are usually larger in size.
The filtering assembly is variable. For small volumes you may use a syringe onto which one can fix a disposable syringe filter. Or you have a complete presteriled filter device with funnel, filter (0.2 µm) and container.
Anyway you always sterile filter your solution over a 0.2 µm pore size filter, actually one may leave out the last part and just say sterile filter the solution, however since it is an SOP...
Actually the instruction is incorrect. If you sterile filter first and then transfer the soultion to another vessel it becomes unsterile again. One should sterile filter the solution into a sterile PP Flask...
If that aint enough!
