I don't know much about this topic, Dawn, but maybe this is in the right direction.
Belt filter presses
The sludge is first fed into an inclined dewatering zone, where it is spread over the full width of the belt by ploughs and gravity drained, before being carried to the high-pressure zone via a low-pressure wedge--shaped dewatering zone. The reducing roller diameter in the pressure zone causes a gradual increase of the pressure on the sludge. Maximum dewatering is achieved through the combination of the higher pressure and the shear forces created. At the end of the cycle the pressed sludge is removed from the belt by a plastic scraper blade and the belt is pressure washed. The entire process is fully automatic from start to finish.Key benefits
