German term or phrase:
Vorstand / Aufsichtsrat
English translation:
Management Board/Supervisory Board
German term
Vorstand / Aufsichtsrat
ermächtigt...."
I am, quite frankly confused. I would normally have translated Vorstand as Board of Directors but it seems, in the above case, that this refers to the management and the supervisory board is here equivalent to the board of directors. My searches also indicate a lot of overlap for executive board/management board/supervisory board/board of directors in previous ProZ queries and otherwise. WHAT IS THE PROPER TRANSLATION into UK ENGLISH but applying to a German Aktiengesellschaft which in the context at hand clearly are two different positions?

Management Board/Supervisory Board
Vorstand is best translated as Management Board/Board of Management (the choice is usually soley due to a client preference, both terms mean the same thing).
