outside examiner/co-examiner

I found a thread in WR with a similar question:

Checking with Google, outside examiner is more frequent:

Thanks to all! Yes, probably co-examiner is a better solution than outside examiner.

agree Monia Di Martino : Per una maggiore corrispondenza con l'italiano, sceglierei "co-examiner" perchè è ciò che è un controrelatore.

Of course, although discussant is not used much it is an acceptable word and fits the context:

Sometimes I receive requests for a copy of the comments I make as a discussant at conferences. Here are links to a few recent sets of comments. ...

neutral Mr Murray (X) : Isn't that 'corelatore'? This is 'controrelatore'. Which edition of Hoepli?

The entry for controrelatore says to see correlatore, and that gives co-speaker and co-examiner. I don't see how co-examiner or examiner could fit the context of a congress.
