3 water table

Discussion

Michael McCain (X) (asker) Feb 26, 2009:
The text is about flood hazard mapping, so the Spanish term may actually be "tabla de río":

Assuming it is "tabla de río", does anyone know what this part of a river is called?
Michael McCain (X) (asker) Feb 26, 2009:

Proposed translations

fluvial flat or alluvial flat

Use will depend on your context, but in any case alluvial flat is often used for fluvial flat.

water table

may be short for "tablas de agua" (water tables). In that case it could mean "surface water temporarily present due to a rise in the water table". The rising and falling of the water table is shown by the lower of the two illustrations here, "Seasonal fluctuations in the water table":

another possibility is "(river) pools" (although you might use "pools" to translate "charcas" which comes just before). Ref. for this (which defines "tablas" as "remansos de agua", i.e. (river) pools)::

Regarding your question about how to translate "tabla de río", please see the last reference I posted, which describes these "tablas de río" as "grandes remansos de agua". A "remanso" is a pool in a river, so I suggest "river pools".

you can also write:

"tablas" (river pools),

given that "Tabla" forms part of the name of Tabla de la Yedra etc.
