En este caso, al tratarse de un desinfectante, se busca reducir los microorganismos al máximo posible. Por lo tanto, se realiza un frotis (que consiste en la toma de una muestra, que se extiende sobre un portaobjetos (o "slide" en inglés) para su visualización en microscopio. De esta forma se puede determinar si el desinfectante es eficaz en la eliminación de las bacterias de interés.
