en esta ocasion me toco hacer un taller sobre organizacion para 1,000 niños de zonas rurales que hoy dia me toca y esto se ira haciendo en varios lugares de mi Region

Hi Sarah. I agree with you that there's definitely something wrong with the sentence. As Cinnamon says, in the first instance it looks like it should be either "esa ocasión" or "me toca".
Here's a suggestion for the sentence as I see it: "At that time, I had to run/give a workshop on organisation for 1,000 children from rural areas;I'm currently working in this sphere and similar activities will gradually be carried out in several areas in my Region"
Not sure at all though ...

I think he has done the organisation workshop and is now actually working with the kids. I get the impression that the workshop was for people who are planning to work with these children but I might be wrong there.
Here's a suggestion for the sentence as I see it: "At that time, I had to run/give a workshop on organisation for 1,000 children from rural areas;I'm currently working in this sphere and similar activities will gradually be carried out in several areas in my Region"

Actually, it's not clear if the first "me toco" should be "me tocÓ" or if it was a typo and should be "me tocA" also.
If the first one is "me tocó", it really should be "en esa/aquella ocasión", shouldn't it?
So, if the first is also "me tocA":
On this occasion, I have to prepare a workshop .... from rural areas, as it's my turn to do, and .....

Sooo . . . Let me tell you, in this ocassion I HAD (tocÓ) to prepare (make -- of course -- doesn't fit as well) a workshop about organizing for 1000 kids from rural areas and it's my turn to do it (teach it) today and this will be done in various locations in my region
This is the way I interpret the paragraph. Any other ideas??
Maybe you are getting confused between toco>present tense and tocÓ> past tense. IN this case it should be tocó in the first instance, indicating past tense. There is a missing accent in the word tocÓ.
Then, when it says ME TOCA, it means -- A mi me toca (present tense) hacerlo (enseñarlo) hoy

| I don't see how it makes sense that the first occurrence would be in the past. This time it was my turn. Now, it is my turn. Has he done the workshop or not. The phrase is followed by "no encuientro material referido a..." and a long list of materials. Is it possible it is now his turn to do workshops and he hasn't yet done them? If so, how does this fit in "This time it was my turn" at the start of the sentence? |
