URGENT. ERROR WHEN WRITING DOCUMENT. TRADOS 2009 Thread poster: Liliana Hernandez
|
I can't generate the destination file of my fully translated file in SDL Trados 2009. It only sends message stating error when writing document. And I just can't retrieve the translated material.
File format: word 2003.
I translated the file just as I have with other files and when I tried to finalize the document it dropped the message first described.
All tags are OK,
No other messages or warnings.

Are you able to do a preview or does it give the same message?
Did you run the 'Verifier'? Are there any errors flagged?
What is the exact error message?
Try to open the source again in a new project and see if you can preview it after translating, let's say, just one sentence. If that works, go on translating to fuzzy and check whether you can preview it every 50 or so segments to find out where the error lies.

If you have Word 2007, you may also try to work on a .DOCX copy of the file.

Hi,
Please state the exact error message!
I remember that I have such problem with Trados Studio, and the only solution was to use the TM to re-translate the file with Tageditor or anothe CAT tool like Across.
You can finalize the project to update your TM, export it in tmx format, then translate the file again in Tageditor with this TM. You can check tageditor after opening your source file with to see if it can save the target file or not, otherwise try anothe C... See more Hi,

+NO, I can´t It drops the same message.
Did you run the 'Verifier'? Are there any errors flagged?
+I did and there were no error flags, it all seems to be OK.
What is the exact error message?
+Error message: An error occurred while writing the document.
+Origin: Writing file.

+ I did and it shows the same error, actually, I tried adding the exact same file and it tells me that it is only a reference, that it cannot be translated. So I copy-pasted the contents into a new Word file and got the same Result.
If you have Word 2007, you may also try to work on a .DOCX copy of the file.
+I have Word 2010 (and although it has the same extension *.docx, Trados 2009 does not recognize these files. Word 2010 makes no distinction between *docx from 2007 versions or *docx from 2010 versions.

If you open the file and it does not save as target even if untranslated, then the problem is source.
What you can do: save the docx as Word 2003. Try with this file. If not, open the W2003 file in Word and save as docx.
However, Word 2010 is not fully supported by your version of the software and this may be the culprit here. | | |

Tageditor is a trados old version | Sep 10, 2010 |
Of course you have trados 2007 version with your 2009 one. Tageditor is one part f the old version of trados. You can use it or any CAT tool like Across, WordFast, MemoQ, or DJV.
