If I'd joined ProZ.com when I first started freelancing, and it had been available, I mght be using it today. But I already had invoices I'd designed for my business. I like to have the important words in more than one language - my pair of English and French plus the language of my tax officials.

I have used the Proz invoicing system since the beginning. For me and for what I do it is very good. The system is simple to use, fast and efficient. It really is all I need.
Whomever had the idea for it: Thanks!

I still use an old invoice template a friend made up for me donkeys ago. And I "manage" my bills and files etc myself... sometimes with disastrous results. But hey.... it's a system.

Never used it! When I joined Proz.com, some 10 years ago, my invoice template (created by my IT guy) was already doing its job. Since I moved back to Portugal I asked him to make the necessary adaptations…

And do not really intend to.
Anything for free has some sort of backlash.
Do they also keep a record of what you are earning?
Have never looked into it because I have been using the template that I invented back "in the old days" and am happy with it and do not really have the time ti invest in anything else like that.
Proz.com invoicing system is very useful and easy to use.

I believe it can be tested by registered users, but for full use you need to be a paying member, so it isn't free. Invoices must be kept within the site, as are our quotes etc., so I suppose ProZ.com could potentially fish out the totals of all the invoices. But I don't see why they'd be interested in that. Now if it was Google, I'd be worried. But on the other hand all of us who have Gmail addresses and send invoices by email are probably feeding their database .

I've been a happy user of Translation Office 3000 since 2005.

If the agency is from ProZ I could think of it. Anyway payment details is confidential and we are not advised to use one for cloud system as Sheila said. (and everyone, the Gmail...)

since they are advertising on ProZ we have good relationship.
One question, Philippe, you only use the total amount for one job?
I can not enter cat rate but TO3000 still asked to enter per word fee and calculates automatically... Wish I could just enter PO date and amount only. sometimes minimum fee, sometimes not, and different currency I am at my wit's end now.

Yes, I've been using it since I became a member of Proz and am quite happy with it. For my needs, it's an useful and efficient resource. No client has ever complained about it.
I use it for most of my clients abroad, since i can track invoices and it's easier to invoice for foreign currencies. For local clients, I have my own invoices that I send, using excel generated invoices. I like the PROZ system, very efficient and no problems at all.

I have an Excel template that I wrote myself. It maintains a list of clients and their particulars, generates invoices using drop-down lists, and highlights overdue invoices. Any invoice can be freely edited until it has been printed out as PDF for sending to the client, then it gets locked. I used to create invoices by hand, now it only takes me about a minute to create one.

I wouldn't worry about Goggle since their systems encrypt everything going through their email services (it was widely publicized last year, I believe). As for companies like Proz.com, I wouldn't use their servers to store my financial data. I run Quicken Home & Business (available only for USA residents, I think). All my data is locally stored.

I use a PayPal template. But I should try it for clients that don't pay through PayPal, instead of issuing a PDF locally.
