Hello,

I have recently upgraded from Trados 2019 to 2022 and I am running against a frustrating problem when translating into Arabic.

After inserting a tag pair into the target segment, it is impossible to move the cursor to the end of the line to continue translation to the left of the closing tag. Clicking the End key puts the cursor before the opening tag, while clicking the left arrow key to bypass the closing tag jumps to the next segment.

The only workaround I found so far is to insert any character (e.g. period, comma or any letter) at the end of the line before inserting the tag pair, then ensure the tag pair is inserted before that character. Once that is done, cursor movement behaves normally.

I expect that this is a problem with all RTL languages.

Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, are you aware of a solution?

Does the problem exist in Trados 2024?

In Hebrew it's the same problem Aug 6, 2024

Also when there is an English word at the end of the sentence, the cursor jumps from before the last letter to the next segment.

This is correct, but that's an old problem. Not that this makes it any better. However, the problem with the tags seems to have been introduced with Trados 2022.

The tag issue becomes a real drag on performance when your source contains a lot of tag pairs. One usually starts typing in the target segment by clicking ALT+Ctrl+Shift to insert the first tag pair, then you begin to insert text within the pair before moving to the end of the line to continue translation and repeating the process if needed. Now when you begin to do that, you eventually find yourself stuck, so you delete what you did, and use the workaround I mentioned in my first post. With many tag pairs in the text, the extent to which speed gets compromised becomes clear.

I posted this issue in the RWS community forum. Gladly, Paul Filkin responded quickly, reproduced the problem and filed a support case.
