French to English: Method and System for Reducing Tonal Noise in Centrifugal Fans General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Law: Patents, Trademarks, Copyright
Translation - English The fundamental noise-generating mechanisms of axial and centrifugal fans are the same. Much of the noise is produced by forces exerted by the incident flow on the fixed or movable blades and on the scroll housing. Noises due to vibrations, the motor and gearing are excluded from this study because we assume that the fan wheels are properly balanced, that the motors have good bearings and that the gearing is in good condition. These forces can be stationary or instationary and can generate tonal noise (periodic stationary or instationary forces) or broadband noise (random instationary forces). In order to reduce the noise of a centrifugal fan at the source, it is therefore necessary to reduce the fluctuating forces on the blades of the fan wheel and on the scroll housing. Several control methods have already been described by Neise [3], such as increasing the distance between the fan wheel and the scroll housing tongue in order to reduce the fluctuations of pressure on the tongue and on the blades of the fan wheel, using circular or rectangular scroll housings, or increasing the radius of curvature of the scroll housing tongue. To reduce the noise, it is also possible to seek to minimize the acoustic consequences by avoid the resonant frequencies of a conduit by using absorbents or ...

Bio
I have been a full-time freelance translator, French and Spanish into English, since 1985. I specialize in patents, but also translate bid specifications, contracts, as well as commercial and engineering materials. I also do a great deal of MTPE work.
For five years prior to becoming freelance I was half-owner of a small translation agency, so am very aware of the importance of high quality work and on-time delivery.
Following are titles of representative patents I have translated over the years. They will provide an idea of the range and variety of technologies in which I work:
- Device for Paperless Dissemination of Information
- Device for Printing Postal Code for Mail Processing System
- Digital Television Receiver/Decoder Device with Playback for Interactive Pre-Recorded Television Program
- Full Duplex Infrared Communication System
- Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor Insensitive to External Temperature Variation and Associated Integrated Circuit
- Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor Power Amplifier
- Machine for Blow-Molding Containers, with Means for Orienting the Preforms in the Blow Mold
- Method for Managing a Queue of Packets in an Output Port of a Packet Switch
- Method for Managing an Auxiliary Program Broadcast with a Main Program and Associated Receiver
- Method and Device for Casing a Well, Particularly an Oil Well Bore or a Pipe, Using an In Situ Curable Flexible Tubular Preform
- Method for Making a Multilayer Printing Blanket and Blanket from Said Method
- Method of Depositing Coating by Plasma; Device for Implementing the Method and Coating Obtained by Said Method
- Microwave Applicator and Plasma Reactor Using Same
- Preform or Matrix Tubular Structure for Well Casing
- Method of Filling Metal-Coated Holes of Interconnection Circuit
- Method of Molding the Body of a Bubble Level by Thermoplastic Injection
- Profiled Covering Plate Based on Hydraulic Binder Reinforced by Longitudinal Strips
- Splint for Passive Motion of an Upper Limb
- Temperature Condition Oven for Blow-Molding Facility for Producing Containers of Thermoplastic Material
