I published my third translation of Khalil Gibran's 'The Prophet', in Beirut, Lebanon in 2010 which won high acclaim from Lebanon's leading newspaper Al-Safeer, who said amongst other things, 'This translation captivates, enchants and keeps you in perpetual wonderment.' It is proving to be a best seller in Arabic international book exibitions. Some of Lebanon's most radical intelligentia, including The Art and Literary Movement of Lebanon and Unesco Palace management are considering organising a seminar on this translation with specialist professors of Arabic and English literature at the AUB in the near future. I have also been a professional conference interpreter since 1998 and taught translation/interpreting to MA students at Leeds University [UK's second largest]. I have been a full member of the Institute of Translating and Interpreting [ITI,UK] since 2000. |
