FROM: Kasey Vannett, Press Officer, USAID Mission in BiH
SUBJECT: Letter of Recommendation for Ms. Branka Ramadanovic
I have been asked to provide a letter of recommendation in my former capacity as Press Liaison Officer working with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Ms. Branka Ramadanovic was employed by CRS Sarajevo from January 1994 through June 1997, initially as Interpreter/Secretary and then as the Executive Assistant to the Head of Office. Her duties included providing assistance on various personnel matters, maintaining a database of all CRS/Sarajevo personnel, coordinating meetings, writing correspondence, preparing agendas, drafting contracts, acting as recorder at meetings, and assisting with the day-to-day running of personnel issues. In addition to this, she acted as interpreter/translator and personal assistant for the CRS Sarajevo Head of Office. Along with myself, she was heavily involved in NGO interagency coordination activities managed by CRS/Sarajevo during this period. She also closely cooperated with me on public relations issues related to CRS/Bosnia-Herzegovina activities.
While working at CRS, Ms. Ramadanovic demonstrated excellent administrative and interpreting skills. I can recall one instance in which she spent a full day performing simultaneous translation (an extremely demanding skill) for a conference I organized. Throughout the entire day, Ms. Ramadanovic maintained an exceptionally high level of expertise as well as good nature, despite the fatigue she must have been feeling. Her attitude was not unusual. In the office as well, Ms. Ramadanovic consistently proved herself to be service minded, helpful and friendly. She regularly assisted me in organizing press events and interagency meetings. I can say without reservation that she is a true professional and represented the office in an excellent manner.
Ms. Ramadanovic can be relied on to complete her work in a timely and professional manner. She has clearly demonstrated her ability to operate successfully in a multi-national environment. She is very intelligent and grasps new concepts quickly. I highly recommend her for any position that will make use of her many skills.
It was a pleasure working with Ms. Ramadanovic and I wish her the best of luck and every success in the future.

I have known Branka Ramadanovic since her appointment by me and two other members of the European Union’s Single Economic Space Project Team in January 2004.
Branka and I have worked together whilst she has translated some extensive documentation for me, such as: BiH Consumer Protection Act from English into Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian; Consultative Paper on the options for a Consumer Ombudsman system in BiH; Quarterly Report to the EC Delegation for the whole Project (Competition, Consumer Protection, Market Surveillance and Public Awareness). In addition, Branka has assisted me with current correspondence both from and into English and Bosnian.
Apart from her work for me in the consumer protection field I am aware that she has helped the project generally and, in particular, in connection with the translation of brochures and regulations for competition and for technical laws including product safety, food safety and market surveillance.
In addition to her excellent translation work Branka has interpreted for me at numerous meetings, including with Government Ministers and at interviews for the press, radio and TV. In all her work for me and the project I have found her to be fast and accurate and always willing to help.
If you require any further information I can be contacted at this address or in the UK at 19 Cranedown, Lewes, East Sussex, BN7 3NA or by email at

For the last three years it has been my privilege to work with Branka Ramadanovic. I have come to know her on both a professional and personal basis. As Director of the Special Assets Team for the Business Finance Program I have used Branka as my translator in many difficult situations. My main responsibility is to collect loans from borrowers who do not wish to pay. Her superb abilities have been invaluable to me in this effort. I can always depend on Branka to not only translate literally but in addition to interpret the true meaning and intent of the borrower. Also I can depend on Branka to translate my testimony given in Bosnian Courts. She is one of those people you can always depend on to be at the right place at the right time with the right skills to do the job.
Over the last three years I have gotten to know Branka as a person. In fact over this period we have become friends. I feel I can vouch for her character as well as her technical abilities. I have no problem in recommending her for any endeavor she should seek in the future. If you need any more information regarding Branka please feel free to contact me.
