Source text - Spanish Metodología: Se incluyeron 40 pacientes. Se realizó co-cultivo de células mononucleares totales del paciente con las de un donante sano por 3 semanas. Dos veces por semana se guardó sobrenadante de cultivo para la determinación de p24 a fin de rescatar virus. El ensayo de sincicio se realizó utilizando uno de los sobrenadantes de cultivo con p24 >200 pg/ml. Células MT-2 fueron infectadas y durante 4 semanas se observaron al microscopio buscando la formación de sincicios.
Translation - English Methodology: 40 patients were included. A co-culture of total mononuclear cells was done with cells from a patient and from a healthy donor. Supernatant of the culture was saved twice a week to determine the p24 in order to rescue virus. The syncytium trial was performed using one of the culture’s supernatants with p24>200 pg/ml. MT-2 cells were infected and were observed under the microscope for 4 weeks in the search of syncytium formation.
