The Triumph of Spirit
Do you like horses? Do you know that there exist some 90 different breeds of this magnificent animal? In an Indian village a young orphan lived apart from the community. Everyone made run of his sadness and extreme thinness, and reproached him for not being good for anything. The poor lad always moved like a shadow, begging, which led to his name: Little Shadow. One day when he was walking through the forest he fell asleep and had a dream in which the Great Spirit spoke to him: «Find clay and form two dogs, then take them to the prairie and wait for them to grow». When Little Shadow woke up, he didn't pay much attention to his dream until, guided by a special force, he found himself forming the two figures that the Spirit had indicated. When they were finished, they came alive and began to run through the prairie. With each mouthful of grass, they grew a little more until they turned into a beautiful pair of ponies. When Little Shadow thought they had just the right height, he entered the village mounted on the animals. Everyone was surprised at such magnificent and unknown animals, which later would allow them to travel and hunt. And that was how, when time passed, Little Shadow became the Big Chief of the tribe who led his people to peace and prosperity.
The youngest people also need to be heard in their world of ideas and imagination. Let's pay them more attention!
Translation - Spanish Pequeña Sombra y el triumfo del Espíritu
(Cuento tradicional de América del Norte)
Te gustan los caballos? ¿Sabes que existen aproximadamente unas 90 razas diferentes de este magnífico animal? En un poblado indio un joven huérfano vivía apartado de la comunidad. Todos se burlaban de su tristeza y extrema delgadez y le reprochaban que no valiese para nada. El pobre chaval siempre andaba como una sombra mendigando, y de ahí su nombre: Pequeña Sombra. Cierto día que andaba por el bosque se quedó dormido y tuvo un sueño en el que el Gran Espíritu le habló: «Coge barro y moldea dos perros, luego llévalos a la pradera y espera a que crezcan». Cuando Pequeña Sombra despertó, no le hizo mucho caso a su sueño hasta que, guiado por una fuerza especial, se vio moldeando las dos figuras que el Espíritu le había indicado. Cuando estuvieron acabadas, cobraron vida y comenzaron a correr por la pradera. A cada bocado de hierba, crecían un poco más hasta que se convirtieron en una hermosa pareja de ponis. Cuando Pequeña Sombra pensó que tenían una altura perfecta, se presentó en el poblado montado sobre los equinos. Todos se quedaron maravillados ante tan magníficos y desconocidos animales, que más tarde les servirían para desplazarse y cazar. Y así fue cómo, pasado él tiempo, Pequeña Sombra se convirtió en el Gran Jefe de la tribu que condujo a su pueblo a la paz y la prosperidad.
Los más pequeños también necesitan ser escuchados en su mundo de ocurrencias y fantasías. ¡Tengámoslos más en cuenta!

Better Late Than Never
Rudeness and lack of respect are very common among young people. Do you think this is good for living together? Young Harry Lapton was rude, brutish, impolite and had no means of earning a living because he knew that some day he would inherit his father's fortune. One day he went to the river but only fished a repugnant worm that he threw into a fountain. Next morning young Lapton went off to war so he never found out about the terrible catastrophe he caused: that worm wasn't normal and in a few days grew so much that he wrapped himself around the highest mountain and began to devour trees, cows, grass and animals. The neighbors in the area fled. Then the worm began to devour the forests of old man Lapton. The rich landowner called several gentlemen but it was useless: they all ended up strangled by the worm.
After three years, Harry Lapton returned from the war much calmer and less brutish and discovered that desolate situation. The young man got a brilliant idea: he got into the middle of the river with his sword and some armor full of spikes. When the worm tried to strangle him, the spikes dug into it and it let go of the young man, who took advantage of this to cut the body into pieces that went down the river. Old man Lapton forgave him and instead of his fortune gave him a job.
Most of the mistakes that are made have a solution but it is necessary to be clever when it is time to resolve them.
Translation - Spanish El gusano gigante
Cuento tradicional de Inglaterra
Nunca es tarde si la dicha es Buena
Está de moda entre los jóvenes la mala educación y la falta de respeto. ¿Crees que esto es bueno para la convivencia? El joven Harry Lapton era maleducado, bruto, descortés y no tenía ni oficio ni beneficio porque sabía que un día heredaría la fortuna de su padre. Una tarde fue al río, pero sólo pescó un gusano repugnante que tiró a una fuente. A la mañana siguiente el joven Lapton partió a la guerra, así es que no se enteró de la terrible catástrofe que generó: aquel gusano no era corriente y en pocos días creció tanto que se enroscó a la montaña más alta y comenzó a devorar árboles, vacas, hierbas y animales. Los vecinos de la zona huyeron. Entonces el gusano comenzó a devorar los bosques del viejo señor Lapton. El rico terrateniente llamó a varios caballeros, pero fue inútil: todos acabaron estrangulados por el gusano.
Después de tres años, Harry Lapton regresó de la guerra mucho más calmado y menos bruto y se encontró con aquel desolador panorama. Al joven se le ocurrió una genial idea: se puso en medio del río con su espada y una armadura llena de pinchos. Cuando el gusano intentó estrangularle, los pinchos se le clavaron y soltó al joven, que aprovechó para cortarle el cuerpo en trozos que se fueron río abajo. El viejo Lapton le perdonó y en vez de su fortuna le dio un trabajo.
La mayoría de los errores cometidos tíenen remedio pero hay que ser ingenioso a la hora de subsanarlos.
