A veterinarian that built a business based on supporting regulatory affairs and clinical trials, now taking advanced studies in Oncology.
In 2005, I joined the Portuguese Veterinary and Food Administration as a Senior Technician, one of the country's Competent Authorities, a position I held until 2015, working in the two most economically relevant regions in the country. I held several responsibilities, managing increasingly complex tasks and local implementation of programs, organizing work for multidisciplinary teams and task forces. I left this job to further pursue my business venture and advanced studies.
In 2010, I started working as a freelance consultant working exclusively in localisation, review and advisory for regulatory affairs, particularly with clinical trials, labelling and marketing in the EMEA, the US and Latin America. I incorporated in 2013, and this is still my current professional position. I cater to CROs and Regulatory Affairs service providers in Europe, the US and Australia.
Since November 2014, I have been a PhD Candidate in Biomedical Sciences, working on immune modulation in an animal model for cervical cancer in humans using a transgenic murine model (K14HPV16). This work focuses on inhibiting pathways in order to modulate the immune response and inflammation associated with this type of cancer, and included comparison with an experimental drug provided by the Harvard Medical School under a tripartite research project between them, the University of Porto and the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro.
I am a certified trainer and have given training to corporations and online webinars, as well as talks on translation technology and work flow optimization in several countries.
I was a co-founder of the Veterinary Student's Association at my alma mater, and extensive experience organizing international scientific meetings, with several 400+ attendant events under my belt.
