German to Spanish: KUNSTHISTORISCHES MUSEUM LANDING PAGE General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Tourism & Travel
English to Spanish: Track 12 by J.G. Ballard General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English 'Gess again,' Sherigham said.
Maxted clipped on the headphones, carefully settled them over his ears. He concentrated as the disc began to spin, trying to catch some echo of identity.
The sound was a rapid metallic rustling, like iron filings splashing through a funnel. It ran for ten seconds, repeated itself a dozen times, then ended abruptly in a string of blips.
'Well?' Sherigham asked. 'What is it?'
Maxted pulled off his headphones, rubbed one of his ears. He had been listening to the records for hours and his ears felt bruised and numb.
'Could be anything. An ice-cube melting?'
Sherighma shook his head, his little beard wagging.
Maxted shrugged. 'A couple of galaxies colliding?'
'no. Sound waves don't travel thorugh space. I'll give you a clue. It's one of thoses proverbial sounds.' He seemed to be enjoying the catechism.
Translation - Spanish J.G. Ballard
English to Spanish: Mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS I) General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical: Health Care
Source text - English Mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS I) is one of over 40 lysosomal storage disorders. It is one of the most common of 8 mucopolysaccharide storage disorders.
MPS I is an autosomal recessive disorder and is caused by a deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme α-L-iduronidase, which leads to accumulation of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and cellular dysfunction. MPS I is a progressive, life-threatening, inherited metabolic disorder with an incidence of 1/100,000 newborns.
The disease encompasses a bread clinical spectrum, ranging from the most severe and rapidly progressive phenotype (Hurler) to attenuated and more slowly progressive forms (Hurler-Scheie and Scheie). Early signs and symptoms of the disease can be subtle and can resemble those of other more common diseases.
Diagnostic delay can have serious clinical consequences such as irreversible organ damage, deterioration, incorrect and damaging treatment and/or procedures (surgery, anesthesia), known to be associated with increased risk for attenuated patients.
Translation - Spanish La mucopolisacaridosis tipo I (MPS I) es uno de los 40 trastornos lisosomales de acumulación.

Welcome to my profile in Proz.com and thanks for your interest in me for your project.
About my formation as a translator, you may be interested in knowing the following facts:
In the Valladolid University I graduated in Translation and Interpretation in 2005, majoring in Legal and Finance translation in my main pair of languages (English to Spanish). In my second pair of languages (German to Spanish) I got training in general translations and Tourism sector.
Afterwards, in the Jaume I University, I finished my Master's degree in Medical translation in 2008, which involved English into Spanish translations in diverse medical areas: pharmacology, microbiology, clinical research, leaflets...
Then in 2009 I completed an online course on literature translation.
On the other hand, you may be interested in knowing how I work as a professional translator:
My approach to any project is always founded in the conviction of increasing my knowledge and my experience while being able to contribute at the same time to create a high quality, non-literal translation. And, of course, having always in mind that the client satisfaction is one of the most important aspects. Communication is also essential to get the most of a project. That's why I discuss any aspect which I consider is relevant with the PM or the final client.
I have been in contact with languages for many years, both as a translator and also as a teacher. I strongly believe that my role as a teacher has strengthen my ability as a translator, since students always want to know how the language they are studying work or why, which makes me be alert to the grammar structures and term collocations.
Beyond my experience and my formation, I would say my resourcefulness and creativity, together with my memory, is what creates an outstanding background - also my self-confidence about my skills. All together, I would say, is one of my strengths. Another one is my honesty: I know my skills and also my limitations, and I am always true when it is about the projects I can join or not. In turn, I always expect the same honesty.
