A company must be able to draw on at least a couple decades of operational experience and expertise before it can be considered as an established entity in the business world. This requires a type of entrepreneurial spirit that draws talented people together for a unified cause. After a while, this type of spirit will naturally evolve into a more specific ideal, a target of excellence if you will. Only when this ideal is the driving force behind every staff member’s actions can a company’s long-term survival and growth be ensured. For the past hundred years, through thick and thin, the staff at 'Company X' has adhered to this ideal: ‘Whole-hearted dedication to the pursuit of excellence and elegance’. Nothing less would do.

My name is Raymond Siu, I am a Chinese Canadian, born and raised in Toronto. My native language is English, but I am also proficient in Cantonese and Mandarin. In September 2008, I graduated Cum Laude from York University in Toronto where I majored in East Asian Studies. My focus was in Chinese studies and aside from completing three years of University-level Mandarin courses, I also had the opportunity to study Chinese history, philosophy and politics. After graduating, I participated in the China-Canada Scholarship Exchange Program (otherwise known as the CCSEP). I studied Mandarin for three semesters at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou. My goal in China was not only to acquire theoretical knowledge but also to gain some first hand experience of China's culture and customs. A year later, I returned to Sun Yat-sen and completed their most advanced Mandarin course for foreigners. Presently, my goals remain unchanged. In order to further my understanding of Chinese language and culture, I entered the translation profession and currently I have eight years of professional experience. My experience includes written translations in both simplified and traditional Chinese, audio and video transcriptions and movie subtitling. The subject material that I have translated encompasses business-related, marketing, advertising, sales contracts, history, political science, philosophy, religion etc. A more detailed list of my works can be found in my resume. I really enjoy what I do and I am passionate about my work. Since learning about Chinese culture has been a personal hobby of mine, I see each and every project not merely as a job but also as a learning opportunity and a chance to exhibit my talents. I treat all of my clients with the utmost of professional courtesy and I am committed to providing accurate and timely translations. Please feel free to contact me for a quote. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Raymond Siu ___________________________________________________________________________________
