Bio
Hands-on experience in tourism and hospitality, education, literature and linguistics.
Always striving for excellence.
Golden rule of professionalism: accountability.
A love of language and communication.
A talent for writing.
A zest for travelling —46 countries visited and counting!.
Languages are much more than a collection of words and rules; they are semiotic systems. Thus, translation of a text from one language into another requires not only command of source and target languages but also a plethora of skills and knowledge, which we may include under the umbrella term 'communicative competence'.
Languages and, specifically, translation not only dominate my working field but they also pervade my personal interests.
I have graduated in three university courses of study and I have continued my education since then. Professionalism defines my stance on translation. Being a native speaker of Spanish is not a qualified skill that guarantees quality in the target text of translation. Mastery of native language is a must. Even a seemingly insignificant mistake in the target language may lead to misinterpretations. The translator must be invisible, that is to say, nobody should know s/he has been there.
