Translation - English Demonstrate right and national treason
It has been a week in which some unknown and suspected groups have been calling on Facebook for demonstrations presumably to take place on Friday, July 15, under the banner of “The Friday Freedom March” with which to occupy the streets of cities and towns of Kurdistan. Obviously, each demonstration has its own goals to be achieved. In southern Kurdistan, the purpose for the people’s demonstrations is to uproot the widespread political, administrative and economic forms of corruptions which, like a disease, have been crippling the main joints of the Kurdistan Regional Government to a point which are becoming the main causes of confusion, unrest, and public distrust.
The February 17th and its followed demonstrations led by the Kurdistan Freedom Square Assembly contributed to series of negotiations between two lawful parties; the government and its opposition. These negotiations are ongoing and they will continue until all stakeholders reach a solid agreement to protect the Kurdistani people’s fundamental interests hidden behind the political and partisan positions.
The critically important thing to mention here, are the cautious steps taken by the government in the past two months toward reforms and restricting the aggressive occurrences of corruption. This in itself is a major achievement happened because of bloods shed by the martyrs, wounded, and imprisoned activists during the spontaneous demonstrations. Protecting and expanding this achievement will not be materialized by chaotic and suspicious demonstration as some chauvinist Arabs and confused Kurds hoping to have on July 15th as reported in Arabic by the Elaph website.
Defending the political identity of Kurdistan Region is one of the fundamental responsibilities of its citizens. Therefore, if this identity comes under any local, regional, or international threat, then, citizenship, as modern entitlement, will face the challenges. In other words, participation in destroying and eliminating the political identity of Kurdistan will mount to the biggest treason not only against the country, but all Kurdistani citizens of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Today, the opposition in Kurdistan is the only legitimate party sanctioned to negotiate with the legitimate regional authority on public demands. Thus, if the opposition is not motivating and encouraging the population to come on streets, any other unlawful activity should not be permissible, especially if it is intended to disturb the peace in Kurdistan. Most important of all, every citizen should realize that anger and rage lead to sorrow and bloodshed.
