Er arbeitete fünf Jahre lang bei der Metallgesellschaft AG in der Unternehmensentwicklung und im M&A-Geschäft, gefolgt von einer fünfjährigen Tätigkeit im Bereich spezieller Sanierungsprojekte. Ab 2011 war er Verwaltungsrat bei der Zenergy Power Plc; von April 2011 bis Januar 2016 auch bei der Synety Group Plc. Dr. Oehm ist Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender der InCity Immobilien AG. Er promovierte an der Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Kiel. Seine berufliche Laufbahn begann er mit einer Ausbildung zum Bankkaufmann bei der Dresdner Bank in Frankfurt am Main. Danach absolvierte er ein Studium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre in Mainz und Kiel.
