I am a native Dane and hold a PhD in molecular biology from Copenhagen University. During the last 15 years I have carried out cancer research, and my scientific training has taught me to be organized, pay attention to detail, and keep deadlines. My knowledge of the medical/pharmaceutical/chemical/engineering field is quite advanced, and I have published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles (below please see my scientific CV for more details).
I have now embarked on a new career that allows me to work from home, and as a freelance translator I have currently translated more than 265,000 words. Out of these, around 200,000 words (around 70% from repeat customers) have been of scientific content like SDS, PIL and SPC files as well as instruction manuals for medical /mechanical devices and laboratory kits. Approximately 67,000 words have been text of more general content with topics ranging from customs regulations in Russia and the user manual of a software program to a sport-website, a website for rental of vacation homes and travel and tourism-related topics (many repeat customers).
I have lived 4 years in USA, 7 years in Sweden and currently I live in Singapore, and I maintain my Danish language skills by visiting Denmark 3-4 weeks per year. In addition, I frequently Skype with Danish friends and family.
I use both SDL Trados Studio 2011 and XTM Cloud as CAT tools. |
