Spanish to English: Translation CT Scan Report General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical (general)
Translation - English No significant increase in the size of the hilar or mediastinal adenopathies was observed.
Evidence of a punctiform nodule in the left inferior lobe measuring less than 5mm. Given its small size it is difficult to characterize.
Pleural cavities are clear.
Left adrenal gland and pancreas are of normal size and preserved morphology.
Cavity of adrenalectomy on right side with post-surgical staples and discrete linear increases in density that may correspond with the remains of the adrenal gland and post-surgical changes. This would have to be evaluated in further controls given the prior history of the patient.
Spanish to English: Sex, Hormones and the Brain General field: Science Detailed field: Science (general)
Translation - English Our research indicates that in certain areas of the brain, sex hormones modulate the number of contacts received by a neuron, in particular the inhibitory contacts mediated by y-aminobutyric acid (GABA). This modulation of the number of contacts can happen in the course of maturation, resulting in sexual differences in neuronal connectivity that appear as a function of the onset of puberty. However, sex hormones also affect contacts between neurons during adulthood.
For example, as of a result of variations in hormone levels, neuronal contacts in rat brains are reorganized during the estrus cycle in certain neurons of the hypothalamus, as well as in neurons of other parts of the brain not directly associated with reproduction. Similar findings have been made in primate brains, which suggests that it is possible that these changes are produced in humans as well.
Spanish to English: Judgment, Administrative Appeals Court General field: Law/Patents Detailed field: Law (general)
Translation - English The plaintiff alleges that the execution of the administrative act would cause irremediable harm, stating that he has a son who is a Spanish citizen.
The mere subjective interest of the plaintiff in remaining in Spain is not sufficient to grant a stay of the administrative act in question. In order to grant a stay, the damages which would derive from its execution must be difficult or almost impossible to repair, and of such magnitude as to take priority over the general interest in the observance of immigration law.
The decisive circumstance in evaluating the existence of a situation which might warrant an adoption of the precautionary measure is tied to the situation of a person having roots in Spain. The Supreme Court has determined that bonds with the place in which one lives, whether they be of an economic, social or family nature, are relevant in order to evaluate the existence of ties to Spanish territory, and are decisive in determining whether the existence of such ties should prevail over the general interest in the expulsion of those who do not have permission or authorization to reside in Spain. It is therefore incumbent upon the plaintiff to argue and prove, at least circumstantially, the existence of this special situation of having strong ties to Spain, (ruling of December 13, 2007); the aforementioned state of having strong ties should not be confused with the mere desire to form said ties in a territory, which by itself has absolutely no merit (ruling of September 20, 2007 in the court of appeals 2211/04).
