My name
is Laura Castillo and I am a bicultural translation project coordinator and
linguist (EN/FR<>ES).
As an
interpreter and translator, I have more than seven year’s hands-on experience
with multinational clients, the last four of which I have spent managing all
types of linguistic projects (translation, interpreting, subtitling,
transcription, transcreation, voice-over, editing…).
I am well
versed in providing system-wide foreign language translation support,
familiarised with all sorts of CAT tools (such as SDL Trados Studio, Déjà vu,
Wordfast…), able to adhere to interpretation standards and conform to any code
of ethics, and known for offering high time management abilities and
multitasking easily while coordinating and liaising with different teams.
I have
converted more than 8 million words into English and Spanish (both direct and
reverse translation), acted as an interpreter (simultaneous and consecutive
interpreting, as well as chuchotage) on hundreds of occasions and created
thousands of multilingual glossaries and corpora.
For the
last four years, my responsibilities as project manager have included: managing
multiple localization projects in a fast-paced environment, monitoring
projects status, liaising with technical staff and clients, clarifying and
aligning project parameters (such as feasibility, budget, deadlines, register),
preparing and updating all project documentation, establishing and maintaining
excellent relationships with in-house translators as well as freelance ones,
allocating texts, monitoring progress, reviewing final products and checking
compliance with relevant procedures. Translating technical texts
(EN<>ES), using both traditional and CAT methodologies and managing
high volumes of words, interpreting during committee and international
meetings, by providing simultaneous interpreting of oral and written
information focusing on highly technical and precise terminology (finance,
stock and technical industries mainly) and daily escorting non-native speakers
to multilingual meetings and conversational exchanges.
