English to Pashto (Pushto): Australian Immigration: Family reunion Detailed field: Government / Politics
Source text - English People arriving illegally by boat or plane intending to seek Australia’s protection
People seeking protection who arrive illegally by boat or plane, can only apply for a temporary protection visa. While waiting to lodge a temporary protection visa people may be granted a bridging visa which allows them to live in the Australian community until their application is decided.
People who hold temporary visas – a bridging visa or temporary protection visa – can not sponsor or propose family members in Australia’s Family Migration Programme or Humanitarian Programme to bring their families to Australia. Only people with a permanent visa can access these programmes.
I have a bridging visa. Can I bring my family to Australia?
No. A bridging visa is a temporary visa so you cannot bring your family to Australia through the Family Migration Programme or Humanitarian Programme.
