I am a Swedish translator with nearly 30 years of professional experience, specialising in patent translation into Swedish. I work exclusively into my native language, translating from English and French, with a particular focus on pharmaceuticals, life sciences, biomedicine, medical devices, chemistry and engineering.
For around 10 years, patent translation has been a central part of my professional practice, and I have extensive experience translating highly technical patent documentation where accuracy, terminology, consistency and attention to detail are essential. My work covers, among other areas, pharmaceutical inventions, medical technologies, chemical processes, devices, materials, mechanics and general engineering.
I also undertake patent proofreading, revision and linguistic quality control, as well as post-editing of machine-translated patent texts, with the aim of producing precise, idiomatic and legally appropriate Swedish. I am familiar with the conventions and formatting requirements of Swedish patent documentation, including texts intended for the Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV).
My academic background includes an MA in Translation Studies from the University of Surrey, UK (1998) and a BA in English, Linguistics and Musicology from Lund University (1996). I have worked as a professional translator since 1998 and as a freelance translator since 2002.
I use Trados Studio and am accustomed to working with terminology resources, translation memories and client-specific style and terminology requirements. I place particular emphasis on terminological consistency, careful research and close adherence to the source text, while ensuring that the Swedish reads naturally and professionally.
In addition to patents, I have substantial experience in technical, medical and scientific translation, including medical and clinical documentation, workplace safety and medical devices.
