I started translating medical journals and articles while studying medicine back in 2002. I started charging other students and professors for such work in 2004. Later, I dropped out and entered the Interpreting/Translation major. After graduating I worked for a major international retailing company for 5 years while still being a freelance translator. I worked as an IT Technical Writer, Project Manager and Translator. My main areas of expertise are Biological/Medical Sciences and IT, but I've had projects on a number of other areas of knowledge (Legal, Oil/Naval, Finances, to name a few).
Although my major included a third language (French) I do not offer services with the language pair French - Spanish since I do not think I've practised it enough as for considering myself a professional in such language.
I've also studied the following:
Portuguese - 3 years
German - 2 years
Finnish - 3 years
I'm a big fan of Scandinavia (as a whole), barbaric tribes (Jutes, Celts, Vikings, Goths, Suevs, you name it), craft beer, dragons, medieval weaponry and all sorts of major cuisines around the world. |
