Experience
Years of experience: 13. Registered at ProZ.com: Sep 2015.
I am a German-Mexican man with translation experience since childhood. I am saying this because I always had to translate from German to Spanish and Spanish to German during the conversations between my fellow Mexican friends and my German relatives, teachers and friends.
I studied in the German School in Mexico from age 4 till 18. That gave me a profound academic knowledge in both languages. I also started learning English at the age of 7.
Later I studied civil engineering in Mexico, but after finishing I moved to Germany to be the apprentice of one of the best food photographers in the world. After finishing I emigrated to London, England. I started as a translator and assistant for photographers in their travels to Spain, Russia, Germany, France, Italy and other countries. And later I made a living for 12 years as a photographer myself and traveled all over the world photographing for many publications. Than I moved back to Germany, to Berlin, where I lived 2 years with my wife. We kept traveling almost all year long for 6 years and ended in Mexico, where we are based now.
I had to use always many languages. I speak fluently: Spanish, German, English, French, Italian and Russian.
I also know basic Japanese and a bit of Chinese.
So I feel completely confident in translating professionally from German to Spanish and from English to Spanish. Spanish is basically my strongest language.
But what I love the most is oral translation, consecutive or simultaneous.
Since I studied engineering I am familiar with engineering and science and thanks to my experience in photography I love arts too. And in London I became a Buddhist and during many courses and events all these years I translated either consecutively or simultaneously from English and German into Spanish. And I also translated many texts.
In the last years I have been translating mainly from German or English into Spanish and lately I have been interpreting between German and Spanish for many German Companies that sell equipment to Mexico, to Audi or Volkswagen. These have been mainly technical or management oral translations.
I feel that having been bilingual from birth helps me a lot in making very accurate translations.
