I am a Portuguese <> English professional level interpreter who believe an interpreter needs a sea of knowledge that’s one inch deep.
Interpreters are not experts on everything but have to understand most things to be able to get by.
I was born in Brazil and had exposure to the English language when I l lived in the US and England as an exchange student.
My interest in interpreting began when I first met a colleague who was taking interpreting lessons in São Paulo.
I find working as an interpreter extremely varied and exciting. My day could include the Supreme Court, the airport, a police charge room and the birth of a child all in one day. It never gets boring. |
