In fact, 23 to 29% of affected women are between 21 and 34 years of age while 15 to 20% of affected men are between 21 and 56 years old. Migraine usually occurs in the twenties, but can also occur during childhood. In fact, some 45% of migraine cases emerge during childhood or adolescence. Rarely does this disorder appear for the first time after the age of forty (although this does occur in approximately 5% of cases). The frequency of attacks and severity of symptoms decrease with age, especially after sixty years of age.
