Beyond the grove of trees was the roof of the village temple. When he looked to the right, there were several houses, all newly built.
There was a communal well, porch railings where the residents hung out their bedding to air, and small gardens planted with flowers. A baby was crying. A young bride was giving her husband’s business suit a thorough brushing as she stood on the narrow, sunny veranda that ran the length of the house. In
short, there was enough activity beyond Saburò’s window to make him feel he knew what was happening around him. It was “just a whiff” of the ways of the world.

As we pointed out throughout this book many times, identifying different ways for children to practice problem solving is the most important and effective way for them to learn how to tackle the challenges of their future life. However, with too much dependence on technology – in this case, smartphones- they are losing valuable practices. Consider this scenario: An eleven year old child is told by her father before school to “wait on the steps in front of school when you are let out today”. When classes are dismissed at the young girl dutifully arrives at the steps to wait for her father to arrive. When she does not see him at 2:30, she impatiently takes out her phone and starts calling and texting her father to see why he isn’t there. Source text - English Most organizations require that those who work in them have certain abilities that allow them to do their jobs effectively. For example, photographers must understand how different camera settings and lighting affect the picture, and computer programmers need to know how to use programming languages. These abilities are known as hard or technical skills and to learn them one usually enrolls in some sort of educational program and takes an often practical course. However, to keep your occupation you also need what are referred to as ‘soft skills’ (or ‘life skills’). Soft skills as opposed to hard skills (such as technical skills) greatly impact the personality developments of employees. Organizations today recognize that the professional development of their employees play an important part in maintaining relationships with their customers, clients, suppliers, co-workers and developing a successful business.

Neural tube defects include anencephaly, a condition in which a baby is born without parts of the brain and skull, and spina bifida, which causes the spinal cord and the bones surrounding the spine to do not form properly. In the United States, approximately 1,200 pregnancies are affected by anencephaly and 1,500 babies are born with spina bifida each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Source text - English Numerous claims have been made about translated texts being different from non-translated texts in a number of ways. Blum-Kulka (1986), for instance, talks about the explicitation hypothesis, and Baker (1993) speaks on translation universals. This article aim to investigate homogeneity in translated Persian texts in terms of mean sentence length, lexical density and lexical variety. To this end, pieces of translation from English into Persian and pieces of writing in Persian with similar topic by 22 senior undergraduate translation students from Allameh Tabatabaei University, majoring in English translation, were compared and contrasted in terms of lexical density, lexical variety and mean sentence length. The lower range for mean the three textual factors in the translations done by the subjects as opposed to original texts written by them indicates that translated Persian texts are more homogeneous compared to non-translated Persian texts in terms of the mentioned features. The study's findings also support “levelling out” as one of the proposed translation universals by Baker (1996).
Translation - Persian (Farsi) ادعاهای بسیاری در مورد تفاوت‌های متون ترجمه‌ای و متون غیر ترجمه ای وجود دارد. برای مثال بلوم کولکا (1986) درباره‌ی نظریه‌ی تصریح صحبت می‌کند و بیکر (1993) راجع به جهانی‌های ترجمه می‌گوید. هدف این مقاله بررسی همگرایی در متون فارسیِ ترجمه شده از جهت میانگین طول جمله، تراکم واژگانی و تنوع واژگانی است. در راستای این مقصود، قطعه‌های فارسی ترجمه‌شده از یک متن انگلیسی و نیز قطعه‌هایی فارسی با همان موضوع که توسط 22 دانشجوی سال آخر مقطع کارشناسی رشته‌ی مترجمی دانشگاه علامه طباطبایی مدون شده بودند، جمع‌آوری و از جهت تراکم واژگانی، تنوع واژگانی و میانگین طول جمله، مقایسه و مقابله شدند. گستره‌ی محدودترِ هر سه مورد از مؤلفه‌های متنی مورد بررسی در ترجمه‌های صورت گرفته توسط افرادِ مورد تحقیق در مقایسه با متون اصلی نوشته‌شده توسط ایشان حاکی از این است که متن‌های ترجمه‌شده به فارسی از جهت معیارهای ذکر شده در بالا، یکپارچه‌تر از متون ترجمه‌ای فارسی هستند. نتایج این تحقیق همچنین تأییدی است بر وجود فرضیه‌ی «همگرایی» که بیکر(1996) به عنوان یکی از جهانی‌های ترجمه مطرح کرد.
