I've been a freelance translator for more than three years now, having started in November 2016. I have translated several types of content, including Law (General, T&Cs, Company Policies, and the like), STEM, and General Pop Culture content. I have accrued experience in legal content because of my work and I have experience in STEM content because of my academic background.
I've also been subtitling content since February 2018. I have subtitled virtually every type of audiovisual content you can imagine:
Movies
Series (General Audience and Kid Shows)
Documentaries
Educational Videos
Cooking Shows
Talk Shows, and more.
I'm familiar with CAT tools (specifically SDL Trados 2021 SR1 (Full) and MemoQ 10.6 (Free)) and my go-to subtitling tool is Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019 (that's my standard). I can also do completely organic translation with nothing more than MS Word and some dictionaries, just in case.
I acquired the, let's say, "taste" for the English language from my father, who's been bilingual for as long as I can remember. I got the desire to "live in English" from him. I started to do a major shift, setting up my electronics in English, reading in English, and watching TV and movies in English, among other changes, big and small, I introduced in my daily life so that I could make it feel as natural for me as my native LatAm Spanish is. I also have a general taste for languages. It's in my plans to learn French, German, and Japanese, if possible.
