Source text - English The 3 Prayers of A Family Leader
Leadership can be an intimidating thing. Whether at work or in your church, it’s the reality that the buck stops with you that seems unnerving. In many places, the decision of whether or not to take on a leadership role is up to you, but when it comes to parenting, there is little choice in the matter. These little humans are looking to you for guidance, education, provision, emotional stability, spiritual development, relationship advice, instruction on hygiene, law-and-order, language formation, philosophical understanding…..whoa!
I’ve always been the type to jump at leadership challenges. Many of them have been extraordinarily tough, but none have made me step as carefully and pray as diligently as parental leadership. Never had so much been on the line as when I became a father.
In James 1:5, scripture instructs us to ask for wisdom:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God… and it will be given to him.”
Since becoming a father, God has led me to understand a few important truths:
They Are God’s… He Is The Leader; I Am His Steward
Yes, this is my wife, and yes, these are my children, but even more so, they are God’s. I have been given the honor and great responsibility of being a steward of His prized loved ones. The first, and greatest, of my responsibilities is to come to Him each day, in order to receive his instruction for the my family. In my prayers for wisdom, God has led me to pray for these 3 areas:
Direction: “Show me where to go!?”
Each day, even on the ordinary ones, I must pray for God’s direction. He knows all of the stuff that I do not. In the big decisions and the little decisions. If I do this consistently, then I can be confident that as I go through life making thousands of decisions, they have been guided by Him.
Provision: “Give me what I need!?”
In my short run as a husband and parent, I have already been broadsided by unexpected financial moves; good and bad. It is so important for me to be prepared for times of famine, as well as being prepared for unexpected flows of income that must be allocated correctly. I am frequently concerned about what the price of my child’s education will be over the next 25 years, and how much I’ll need for retirement. Do all of the necessary research, but keep praying to God to keep you in step with all that’s ahead.
Affection: “Help me love the right way!?”
No one, and I mean NO ONE, is as perfectly balanced in dealing with children as God is. Scripture shows us a gentle, gracious, loving Father who is both physically affectionate and verbally affirming. In Matthew 23:37, He expresses His desire to gather us up as a hen gathers up her brood under her wings; what a beautiful picture. On the other hand, Scripture shows us a heavy-handed disciplinarian, who is not afraid to dole out the punishment that is required to raise His children. In Proverbs 3:11-12, He reminds us that His discipline is given out of His great love for us.
Showing affection properly to our children can be a great parenting challenge. Am I hugging enough/too much? Am I spanking enough/too much? Am I saying I love you enough/too much? We need God’s help to do this well. God is love; He knows best how to parent a child in the completeness of love.
Each of these 3 areas can result in hours of prayer time, and it would be well-deserved, but most of the time, the prayer should look something like this…
“You are the Father of this home, and I am your servant.
I depend on you for direction; please show me where to lead.
I depend on you for provision; please help me manage finances well.
I depend on you for affection: help me to love my family as you have loved.”

Translation - Portuguese As 3 orações de um líder de família
Liderança pode ser algo que intimida. Seja em seu trabalho ou em sua igreja, a realidade de que a questão para em você parece desconcertante. Em muitos lugares, a decisão de tomar ou não um papel de liderança depende de você, mas quando o assunto se refere a paternidade, há pouca escolha na questão.
Esses pequenos seres humanos estão olhando pra você em busca de direção, educação, provisão, estabilidade emocional, desenvolvimento espiritual, conselhos no relacionamento, instruções de higiene, lei e ordem, formação de linguagem, entendimento filosófico…uau!
Sempre fui o tipo que pulava e assumia desafios de liderança. Muitos deles foram extraordinariamente difíceis, mas nenhum me fez andar com tanto cuidado e oração como a posição de ser pai. Nunca tanto esteve na linha como quando me tornei pai.
Em Tiago 1:5, a palavra nos instrui a pedir por sabedoria:
“Se qualquer um de vocês tem falta de sabedoria, peça a Deus … e lhe será dado.”
Desde que me tornei pai, Deus me direcionou a entender algumas verdades importantes:
Eles são de Deus….Ele é o líder, Eu sou Seu mordomo
Sim, esta é minha esposa, e sim, esses são meus filhos, mas mais ainda, eles pertencem a Deus. Eu recebi a honra e a grande responsabilidade de ser um mordomo de seus amados. A primeira, e maior, das minhas responsabilidades é me achegar a Ele cada dia, para receber Sua instrução para minha família. Em minhas orações por sabedoria, Deus me levou a orar por estas três áreas:
Direção: “Mostre-me para onde ir!?”
A cada dia, até mesmo nos normais, eu devo orar pela direção de Deus. Ele sabe todas as coisas que eu não sei. Nas grandes decisões ou pequenas decisões. Se eu faço isso consistentemente, então eu posso ficar confiante que enquanto eu vivo tomando várias decisões, elas foram direcionadas por Ele.
Provisão: “Me de o que preciso!?”
Em minha curta corrida como marido e pai, eu já dei de frente com movimentos financeiros inesperados; bons e ruins. É tão importante que eu esteja preparado para tempos de fome, e também, estar preparado para entradas inesperadas que devem ser alocadas corretamente. Eu me preocupo frequentemente sobre qual será o preço da educação de meus filhos nos próximos 25 anos, e como e quanto eu precisarei para aposentadoria. Faça toda pesquisa necessária, mas continue orando para Deus te manter no passo de tudo o que vem pela frente.
Afeição: “Me ajude a amar da maneira certa!?”
Ninguém, e eu quero dizer NINGUÉM, é tão equilibrado em lidar com crianças quanto Deus é. A palavra nos mostra um Pai gentil, gracioso, amável que é tanto fisicamente afetuoso e verbalmente afirmador. Em Mateus 23:37, Ele expressa Seu desejo de nos ajuntar como uma galinha ajunta sua ninhada debaixo de suas asas; que imagem bonita. Em contrapartida, a Palavra nos mostra um disciplinador de mão pesada, que não tem medo de distribuir a punição que é requerida para criar seus filhos. Em Provérbios 3:11-12, Ele nos lembra que Sua disciplina é dada por causa de Seu grande amor por nós.
Demonstrar afeição propriamente para nossos filhos pode ser um grande desafio na paternidade. Será que estou abraçando o suficiente ou demais? Estou dizendo que os amo o suficiente ou demais? Precisamos da ajuda de Deus para fazer isso direito; Ele sabe melhor como devemos criar uma criança na plenitude do amor.
Cada uma dessas 3 áreas podem resultar em horas de oração e valeria a pena, mas a maioria das vezes, a oração deveria se parecer com algo como:
“Tu és o Pai dessa casa, e eu sou Seu servo.
Eu dependo de Ti para ter direção, por favor, me mostre para onde levá-los.
Eu dependo de Ti para ter provisão, por favor, me ajude a administrar as finanças direito."

Besides my professional experience always using english on my daily routine, I taught english to Brazilians for two and a half years, developing teaching techniques and always growing in grammar and skills knowledge.
I believe that in order to be able to translate from a language to other we have to be careful, precise and diligent in order to avoid making things seem different than the author meant them to be.
