I am an English mother-tongue translator working from French and Spanish. I have been translating full-time since October 2010.
After graduating with a First class degree in French and Spanish from the University of Leeds in 2005, I worked in the charity sector for 2 years before (and whilst) completing an MA in Applied Translation Studies in 2006-2007.
Immediately after my MA, I completed a translation internship at the UN in Vienna. I then embarked upon a successful career as a project manager for a UK-based language services company. Over three years, this role enabled me to enhance my technical skills and industry knowledge, and I also completed 3 months as a full-time in-house French to English translator.
In addition to building a solid client base of agencies and direct clients, I have enjoyed translating for not-for-profit organisations Kiva and Médecins du Monde, and the online current affairs magazine www.cafebabel.com.
In the 12 years since becoming a freelance translator in 2010, I have translated a wide range of projects for agencies and direct clients in the following subject areas:

- Administrative texts & corporate communications (HR training and policy documents, health and safety, internal and external newsletters, annual reports, etc.)
- Market research questionnaires and responses (including pharmaceutical market research, customer and employee satisfaction surveys)

- International development (healthcare, child and maternal health, infectious diseases, harm reduction, water and sanitation projects) and environment issues (company CSR policies and reports)

- Semi-technical (marketing texts and user guides for high-end audio equipment, software documentation and strings for a cloud storage/data recovery/data sharing company, patient software strings, medical imaging engineer notes)
My rates for French/Spanish to English range between £0.07 and £0.12 per word, and I can offer discounts for projects with repetitions and matches. I can also assist you with your proofreading and editing requirements at a rate of £30 per hour (an estimate is provided prior to starting the project), and charge a minimum fee of £25 where applicable.
