Rhoda B. Miller, an American Translators
Association-certified French to English translator with a BA and an MA in
French Literature, brings more than three decades of linguistic experience to
her work as a translator. After getting her start at George Washington
University, followed by a Fulbright scholarship at the University of Dijon,
France, Rhoda worked as a program coordinator for an international aid agency
with programs in West Africa, then as a contract interpreter for the US
Department of State, interpreting for members of Congress, the Judiciary and
private sector businesspeople. Her assignments included numerous seminars for
the International Visitors Program and the US anti-terrorism program, on
subjects ranging from public administration and comparative law to hostage
negotiation and airport security. Rhoda now works as a full-time free-lance
translator, specializing in corporate communications, political science,
finance, law, environment and international development. She also combines her
literature background and her expert language skills in her work as a book
translator. Her most recent French to English book translation is Contemporary
China, by François Godement, for which she was awarded a grant from the
French government's Centre National du Livre. |
