Thankfully rare, maginvalophobes are astonishing people. They fear the thought of being involved in a nasty train crash less than being visited by a beaming MP later in hospital. A recurring nightmare of many maginvalophobes is being totally bandaged from head to toe and unable to speak, and then seeing Magaret Thatcher inching round the curtain, saying “We are a visitor.”
11. obselitophobia
fear that everyone has a better mobile than you
A truly modern fear and one which is increasingly prevalent. At first,
obselitophobia attacked those who merely didn’t have a great handset. Then it singled out those with non-colour graphics. Now, it is spreading and knows no bounds. Doctors are predicting a potential epidemic if current trends continue. These days, even obselitophobes who try to feed their fear with the latest generation of handset cant keep up. It’s no longer just the graphics or the camera (wedding photographers now take commissions for weddings where the snaps are taken with their phone). Comments like “Oh, you can’t get E4 on yours, how quaint” can both wound and mystify an obselitophobe. Some sufferers can be seriously hindered in the healing process by their children too – if your offspring insists you walk seven feet
ahead because of that “iron lung you’re carrying”, it can hurt.
14. parvocoquophobia
fear of motorway services
This translates as something like “fear of the small chef” and comes from the Roman tradition that a small cook was somehow wrong (in that a cook should love his food and therefore be fat – if a cook was small, what was wrong with his own food?) Nowadays it has come to mean fear of motorway services – those meals you are forced into considering and/or eating when on a long journey. Symptoms are often rage – at what they see as inflated prices for deep-fried food – followed by extreme poverty. Occasionally a dawning realisation follows concerning the equivalent amount of food they could have bought for the same price in, for example, a) a supermarket or b) a third world country. Some sufferers become irascible when discussing the decision to charge of a sachet of vinegar. Spare a thought for the sad parvocoquophobia pictura sufferers who have a genetic disorder of the eyes which prevents them from seeing the relationship between the photographs of the food in the laminated menu and the food which eventually arrives on their plate.

Una fobia de nuestra generación, cada vez más frecuente. Al principio, aquellos que sufrían de esta fobia eran los que no tenían un buen teléfono móvil. Después, aquellos cuyo móvil no tenía una pantalla a color. Actualmente, se está extendiendo y parece no tener límites. Si la tendencia actual sigue así, los médicos creen que causará una potencial epidemia. Hoy en día, hasta al obselitófobo que se compra un móvil de última generación para alimentar el miedo no puede seguir el ritmo. Ya no se trata solo de tener la mejor gráfica o la cámara con más megapíxeles, hay fotógrafos de bodas que llegan a cobran comisiones cuando las fotos se sacan con los móviles. Comentarios como: «Ay, no puedes ver la televisión en tu móvil, qué vintage» pueden herir y confundir a un obselitófobo. Algunos pueden verse en dificultad a la hora de enfrentarse al problema por culpa de sus hijos. The second movie spin-off was partially set in Abu Dhabi, but the authorities stopped it from being filmed or even screened there.
Yet the single lifestyle appears to be catching on even in the Gulf. According to thelatest statistics from the United Arab Emirates’ Marriage Fund, a government body that provides financial assistance to the affianced, about 60% of women over 30 are unmarried, up from 20% in 1995—a trend that Said al-Kitbi, a government spokesman, calls “very worrying”.

Museo Egizio
Partiamo dal Museo Egizio. Una tappa a cui è necessario dedicare un po' di tempo in più se vuoi sapere cosa vedere a Torino, visto l'interesse e l'enorme fascino esercitato. È il più antico museo nel mondo interamente dedicato alla civiltà egizia, ed è considerato il secondo per importanza dopo quello del Cairo.
Nel 1824 il re Carlo Felice acquistò la grande collezione egizia di Bernardino Drovetti, e la arricchì con il patrimonio di antichità di Casa Savoia, dando vita al primo museo egizio del mondo. In seguito la collezione divenne sempre più grande, superando i 30 mila pezzi: un patrimonio di mummie, preziosi papiri, statue e oggetti di uso comune che accompagnano un emozionante viaggio nella storia e nella civiltà dell'antico Egitto.
Tra le maggiori attrazioni la tomba intatta di Kha e Merit, il cosiddetto Papiro di Torino – che riporta un'importante sequenza di sovrani egizi – , i rilievi di Djoser, il Papiro delle miniere d'oro e le statue di Iside e Sekhmet, di Ramesse II.

Empecemos con el Museo Egipcio. Una parada a la que hay que dedicar un poco más de tiempo si quieres saber qué ver en Turín, dado el enorme interés y encanto que posee. Es el museo más antiguo del mundo dedicado completamente a la civilización egipcia y el segundo en importancia después del museo del Cairo.
En 1824 el rey Carlo Felice adquirió la gran colección egipcia de Bernardino Drovetti y la enriqueció con el patrimonio de antigüedades de la Casa Saboya, creando así el primer museo egipcio del mundo. Más adelante, la colección aumentó, superando las treinta mil piezas: un patrimonio de momias, importantes papiros, estatuas y objetos de uso común que acompañan el viaje en la historia y la civilización del Antiguo Egipto.

Bio
I am a native Spanish speaker based in Milan (Italy) and an EN/IT>ES freelance translator. I have a degree in English language and literature, a postgraduate diploma in Professional Translation EN>ES, and an "Audiovisual translation and subtitling EN>ES" certificate.
I have been working as a freelance translator for the last 3 years (mainly subtitling projects, but also literary and general texts). In April 2019 I started working as an EN>ES translator/subtitler for Rev.com and since I have completed +120 projects and +4000 minutes of films, TV series, documentaries, tutorials, and YouTube videos.
In February 2021 I started collaborating on a daily basis with an important translation agency on an audiovisual project (anime subtitling, translation, and QA) with an average workload of 300 minutes per month. I also collaborate on a permanent basis with different agencies translating/proofreading subtitles EN/IT>ES.
I usually work with Aegisub, Subtitle Workshop, and Subtitle Edit, but I also know how to use VisualSubSync and other online tools provided by my clients.
