Freelance translator based in London, UK. After a BA in Italian and French and postgraduate studies in Technical Communication, I worked from 1996-1998 in multilingual IT technical support.
From 1998 until 2011 I worked for an Italian software company based in Shannon, Ireland and in Genoa, Italy as their head technical writer and translator. During this time, I researched and wrote over 100 software manuals based mainly on interviews in Italian with software engineers.
For the last 21 years I have worked as a freelance translator both directly with customers and with translation agencies in Italy, UK, Ireland, Germany and the US.
Over this period, my annual output has been between 750,000 and 1 million words (roughly equivalent to a total of 100,000 pages) across a wide range of subjects. Given my background in technical writing, I have come to specialize in Medical, Scientific and Technical fields, while also regularly translating business, financial, academic, legal and other texts.
I have translated a wide range of materials for many types of end customers, including: service reports for manufacturers of hospital equipment; clinical trial documentation for numerous pharmaceutical companies; computer hardware and software documentation; financial statements for Italian companies across many sectors, from car manufacturers to the fashion industry; technical and marketing documentation for a wide range of Italian companies producing everything from industrial and agricultural machinery to domestic appliances; academic papers; legal contracts and agreements, and many other types of documentation.
I have been using SDL Trados software for about 15 years (from Trados 6.0 to SDL Studio 2019 at present).
I am a Certified Member of the UK-based Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators (MISTC). I am a Qualified Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI) and therefore also qualified to translation standard ISO 17001:2015. I am a voting member of the ATA (American Translators Association) and of its Italian Language Division.
