Bio
The Position

I was elated to find the Copywriter and Marketing Translator position.  The position appears to have been created specifically for my interests and background. I believe I am the candidate you are looking for, and I’m excited to explain why.

A Passion for Copywriting,  Marketing, and Advertising

One of the things that drew me to study Marketing and Advertising is my interest in human psychology, about what triggers our impulse to buy products. I wanted to learn more about what drew me in with advertisements so that I could use this knowledge to create impactful marketing campaigns myself one day. I am passionate about design, innovation, and communication, and I knew that if I specialized in this field, I would find an outlet for my creativity.

A Lifelong Love of Languages

In conjunction with my interest in the marketing field, I am passionate about language. I started learning English and Spanish as a child by watching my favorite cartoons and listening to music. I went on to study English in high school and continued learning when my education brought me to Portugal to obtain my Master’s Degree.
I honed my Spanish skills while traveling around Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, and Spain. The Spanish and Portuguese languages have a great deal in common, so I have found it fairly straightforward to adapt to speaking it.
While in Portugal, I made many Italian friends and fell in love with that language as well. I spent three months studying Italian intensively and am currently very comfortably conversational, though I am still working to improve my Italian every day.

Transformation Through Translation

Shortly after finishing my studies, I got a job in the tourism industry. This pushed my language skills forward because I was constantly interacting with people from all over the world. I started doing translation work for this company: doing oral interpretation for groups of mixed-language tourists and doing written translation for the company’s website. I even offered my services to design their website and logo. I am proud of the work I did for this company, but their needs for my skills proved to be limited, so I set out on my own as a freelance translator in 2018.
Since then, I’ve been a part of many interesting projects, including writing product descriptions and manuals for a number of product manufacturers and translating subtitles for Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+. I have done human translation and localization, and I have used various CAT tools, including Tradus and MemoQ. I have done transcriptions of popular Brazilian radio shows, and tons of proofreading. I have translated articles on politics, art, and science, and have even translated children’s literature. I am constantly striving to be better. I read grammar books for fun, and I practice writing essays in English.

My time zone is GMT +01:00 Western European Time and I am based out of Lisbon, Portugal.
