The MINISTRY OF WORDS Informs
To whom it may concern:
As from January 1st 2002, the MINISTRY OF WORDS has opened its doors and taken up its activities. The departments and divisions thereof stand at your full disposal immediately. The MINISTRY OF WORDS' sphere of responsibility reaches from the literal transfer of technical or business-oriented texts and easy-to-read translations of editorial and popular scientific articles, all the way to highly original and humorous adaptations of advertising copy, films and cartoons, as well as bits and bytes of new media material. Primary fields of activity are WWU (World Wide Understanding), CGA (Creative Global Adaptation) and TCCS (Trans Cultural Copy Streamlining). For all other fields of activity surrounding The Written Word, the MINISTRY OF WORDS keeps in close contact with other authorities, and, should the occasion arise, forms committees made up of experts qualified for the respective task.
The adaptation policy applied by the MINISTRY OF WORDS complies with the General Translation and Adaptation Directives enacted by the Board of Ministers. Based upon the respective context, the text body is to be transposed into the target language creatively and with utmost intercultural competence. In this process, all significant levels of meaning are adequately to be taken into account. A target language native speaker is then to scrutinize results in order to secure highest standards.
The MINISTRY OF WORDS occupies highly competent Ministers and Counsellors, all of which are genuine bilinguals and therefore feel at home in their respective idioms. The cultural contexts of both source and target language
