Bio

I’m Ibsa Hatau, a 33 year old Ethiopian Refugee living in Nairobi, Kenya. I’ve been away from “home” for 5.5 years now.  I work for RefugePoint NGO as a Community Navigator and Interpreter, which is basically conducting Home visit and facilitating communication between The community and the Organization. Also I work with RSC Africa, Canadian High commissioner, and Australian High commissioner in Nairobi and some Media Companies. Aside from interpreter, during my free time I’m a karate teacher.  Kenya has probably been the most memorable for me, so far having visited the Mombasa Beach and Nairobi National Park for my first time.  I have no plans to return “home”  permanently any time soon, and am planning to move to Canada by next year.  I’d say the hardest thing about being a Refugee is finding the right life balance for you. In the end, we have to find what works best for ourselves while also being honest with ourselves in facing challenges.
