Bio

I started translating in 1982 philosophical and esoteric material for a religious and non-profit organization.

Along the road, I gained experience with scientific, medical, administrative, and business documents due to academic and work experiences.

I went through the pre-medical program and the first year of the medical school. This exposed me to biology, chemistry, physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, neuroanatomy, genetics, embryology, etc. I quit the medical school.

After leaving the Medical School, worked as a sales representative for two airlines during seven years. Being in the business environment I enrolled and completed the Business and Accounting college program.

Afterwards, worked for the Panama Canal for twenty years in different positions (voucher examiner, accountant, leader accountant, accounting supervisor, systems accountant, and administrative analyst). On my last eight years before retirement, part of my job was to translate procedures, forms and politics from English to Spanish.

Based on my rewarding experience doing translations and my academic and employment history, after retirement, I enrolled the “Non-Credits Translation Course” of Adelphi University. This was a great training that gave me a broad insight to the trade providing, within the program, the opportunity to work on different types of texts. The effect on the quality of my translations was evident.

This job is happening to be very fulfilling because it is a form of service that at the same time gives the chance to grow. Therefore, I consider the translation business as my new professional activity. My language pair is English and Spanish. Among the documents translated so far I can mention: official documents for immigration purposes, Birth Certificates, IRS documents, CD´s, College Credits, College Diplomas, literary texts, public deeds, rental agreements, scientific articles, and medical articles.
