Bio

Born in Australia from an Austrian mother and a Dutch father I grew up in the Netherlands, where our family continued to use English and German besides Dutch. I was educated at a classical Dutch "gymnasium" (university prep school where both Greek and Latin are taught, plus English, German and French) and graduated form Utrecht University with a master's degree in Russian.

Dutch, German and English are languages I consider my mother tongues and I therefore have no problems translating and to and from any of them, regardless the mix. Russian is not my native tongue, although I speak it fluently and have become an avid reader of Russian books, so I dare only to translate from Russian in oder to keep a high standard.

Translation has always been part of my life, as I was taught to translate Latin and Greek into Dutch at school and Russian to Dutch during translation courses at University. I moved to Germany for a managerial job at a translation office and later switched to working for mostly American banks, where I worked mainly in administration but also as personal assistant.

In my free time I do regular translation jobs for a German friend who has a business in the Netherlands. I really enjoy translating journalistic opinion pieces from Russian to English/German/Dutch for my friends to read.
