Bio

Hi everyone, my name is Hasan Can BIYIK. I am currently residing in Pennsylvania, the USA. I am a professional translator and interpreter, who specialized in Turkish and English.

I completed and received a bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting (English) from Marmara University, specializing in Turkish and English. I took part in various translation and interpretation projects as a freelancer and part-time translator and interpreter and improved my skills and background knowledge in various fields throughout my education. I had experience and knowledge in fields such as banking, business, cosmetics, mooring systems, marine, textile, advertising, and farming. I was hired by Ceviren Adam Tercume Hizmetleri, which is a translation and interpretation agency located in Istanbul, which helped me work with more clients and have more experience and background knowledge in sales, marketing, and marine. Thanks to my experience there, I can provide clients with quality interpretation services.

One of the biggest projects that I took part in as the interpreter was called “Technical Assistance for FADN (Farm Accountancy Data Network): Target 2020”, which was financed by the European Union and conducted by a company called Pangea in Italy. The project was between Pangea and the Ministry of Agriculture in Turkey. The aim of the project was to increase the usage and functionality of the Farm Accountancy Data Network and the data quality of FADN in Turkey. I was assigned as the personal interpreter for Mr. Pietrantonio in the conference which took place in Silivri, Istanbul. There, I was offered by Pietrantonio to take part in the survey stage of the project which would be in Izmir and Adana provinces of Turkey. Upon accepting his offer, I was provided with the materials that would be used and I flew to Izmir and Adana. This project became a part of my graduation project which is called “The Importance of the Preliminary Preparation Stage for the Interpreter and the Interpreting Process”. Thanks to FADN, I learned how to prepare terminology lists and perform quality interpretation services.

I was hired as the part-time translator and interpreter for the health cabinet called Melek Evde Bakim, which is located in Istanbul, Turkey. As their translator, I translated medical reports, health insurance, emails, brochures, and two of the cabinet’s websites. Therefore, I was able to improve my knowledge and experience in the medical field as a translator. Translating emails between the insurance companies and the health cabinet helped me to grasp the importance of communication and translation skills as a translator. Helping the doctors working in the health cabinet to communicate with their patients by being their interpreter allowed me to improve my knowledge and experience in the medical field.

I was hired as the part-time translator and editor of an online magazine which is called GMag. I was responsible to translate three magazine news about different subjects each day, after translating the magazine news, I was responsible for proofreading and editing them. Thanks to GMag, I expanded my vocabulary in Turkish and English and became more prudent in spelling rules, grammar, and punctuation marks. As their translator and editor, I improved my translation, proofreading, and editing skills.
