Bio
Japanese to English translator located in the California Bay
Area with experience translating Japanese literature, manga, classical texts,
technical documents, promotional materials, and more. Experienced writer with
superior English skills, and deeply familiar with various aspects of Japanese
culture, linguistics, and intricacies of the Japanese language. 

I lived in Akita, Japan from 2016-2019 while working as an English teacher for the JET Program. I became extremely involved in the community taking koto and taiko lessons, entering calligraphy competitions, participating in local festivals, etc. I became very familiar with Akita's local dialect, Akita-ben.

I have a Master's degree in Japanese Language Pedagogy from the Ohio State University. Through the program, I studied classical Japanese, Japanese linguistics, and Japanese literature, and many other subjects. 

I officially launched my translation business in September 2024. Since then, I have translated a wide variety of materials such as manga, web comics, short films, and marketing materials.
