I love
being a translator. It is the job I chose almost 25 years ago (!) and I still
choose it every day. Hardly a day goes by without learning something new on the
job.
When I
translate, I seek to communicate the meaning of the text in context.
Translation is not a collection of words and phrases. That is what dictionaries
do, and there are lots of good and affordable dictionaries out there.
Translation is exciting: each decision we translators make is a two-edged
sword, and sometimes it hurts both ways. Truly, as they say, what is said in
any language can be said in any other language. As no pair of languages is
completely similar, however, we translators must choose the words, the grammar
and the style to cause the same impact, attain the same effect and pursue the
same purpose. That is so much fun!
I also like
the diversity of languages, because it allows us humans to think different thoughts.
And I like thinking in English, in German and in Latin. But above all, I love
thinking in Spanish, my own language and the language of more than 450 million
speakers around the world. And because I want everybody to have access to the
arts and audiovisual culture, I recently graduated from the Diploma in
Audiovisual Translation & Accessibility in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I know I can
help you communicate your clients’ thoughts, the style of their organization,
their values, and brand image. That is what I do, and I love it!
We live in
the same world; my office is located in Nuñez, one of the most beautiful
neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. In any case, I am just an e-mail or call away.
It´ll be my pleasure to help you.
