Czech to English: A glider model test flying Detailed field: Engineering (general)
Měl by rychlým letem klesat .
S t a r t u j t e v ž d y p r o t i v ě t r u !
Pomocník po napnutí šňůry a několika krocích rozběhu vypustí (ne hodí!) model mírně šikmo vzhůru. Jakmile model začne stoupat, zmírněte běh a kluzák sledujte.
Translation - English The model test flying:
Perform the test flying during calm weather or moderate wind. Throw it up the wind slightly askew towards the ground. The model should fly fast and descend.
Adjust the correct slow glide just by inserting thin blocks under the trailing edge of the elevator until the model glides fluently towards the ground.
Check the correct adjustment by throwing it several times.
Don’t throw the model steeply upwards (like small gliders), because it is not built for this kind of launching. It could be destroyed this way.
Launch it using the tow line or throw it so that it glides down the hill.
Mount a metal ring (i.e. a key ring) with diamenter 15 to 20 mm to the tow line. The tow line is 15 meters long for the first tows. A l w a y s s t a r t u p t h e w i n d !
After straining the tow line and getting under way your helper will release (not throw!) the model slightly upward. As soos as the model starts to ascent, slow down and watch the glider.
If it turns during the tow to some direction, bent the rudder trim tab to the opposite direction than the model turns. If it jinks and can’t be towed above a head, reposition the towing hook to the front of the fuselage head. If it’s calm then it’s easier to start with the hook at the back. After towing the model to the height above a head slow down your run until you stop then the model will start to glide and the tow line will fall away. During the false start, before the glider starts to fall steeply towards the ground, throw the tow line away! During each start watch and fine tune gliding of the model (till it starts to sway).
