I'm a native Texan, and have called Barcelona home for the past 28 years. In the early days, I held numerous private teaching posts and served two years as financial analyst for the Wyeth Spain pharmaceutical company before entering language services as a freelancer.
The fields I've covered in translation range from automotive to the arts, but have recently focused on public administration, history and scientific research.
I started as a conference interpreter in 1999, since logging over 2,000 days' work at more than 1,300 jobs since. I've moved further into business, gastronomy/creativity and psychology. My main territory is Barcelona, but I have interpreted in almost every region of Spain and several other European countries, as well as Turkey, China, Morocco and the United States markets.
I work comfortably in simultaneous, liaison/consecutive and chuchotage formats.
When I began translating, it was strictly Spanish to English. I later incorporated Catalan as a source language. I have since earned civil servant-level certification for Catalan (called "Nivell C").
I translate only into English, but interpret both into and from Spanish and Catalan.
I do all my own work. If there is anything I can't do, I refer to a reliable colleague.
Today my mission is to produce accurate, natural translations and interpretations. That means being fully aware of what is needed at all times and applying all my know-how to every job. Over 200 satisfied customers prove I know how to strike a balance between quality and viability.
