Bio

I am a German Citizen living in the UK since January 2006. In Germany I was working as a Solicitor/Attorney at Laws for more than 15 years.

I am working as a translator in the UK since 2007.

My areas of expertise in translation are almost all sectors of Law, Business/Financial/Accountancy, Marketing and IT/Localization of Resource Files.

Out of my work as a lawyer in Germany I have experience in dealing with all kinds of international business and commercial contracts, like sales and purchase contracts, license agreements, credit and payment agreements, property and tenancy agreements and labour contracts.

From August 2007 until April 2021 I have worked inhouse in the international insurance business for two companies and part time as a free-lance translator. In my inhouse work I am mainly dealing with cross border insurance claims (road traffic accidents).

My work included handling insurance claims but also liaising with European Insurers (mainly German insurers), corresponding in German and English and translating correspondence from English into German and from German into English on a regular basis. Furthermore my work includes interpreting on a regular basis (e.g. interviews with German clients for our solicitors and for the court). My work also included translating articles from English into German about developments in cross border insurance claims handling for a company newsletter that was published in whole Europe.

Since September I am working as a Foreign Qualified lawyer on large document review projects on different legal document review projects in German and in English using the review software Relativity.

Apart from my inhouse and legal work I was doing free-lance translations including legal correspondence court decisions and contracts and financial documents for different agencies and companies like translating
the annual report of a large British bank in 2015.

My work as a free-lance translator covers the following areas.

>Translating and reviewing/proofreading of documents and large software translation/review projects.

One of the projects was for Andovar translating and proofreading the software for Netsuite in 2007/2008.

>Translating/Review of legal and financial texts for different agencies and companies.

In 2016 I was doing translations and proofreading/editing for Baltic Media Ltd, Riga who were participating in a project for the European Commission.

>Translation/Review of general material like education/training material and marketing material.

• Most recent translation experience:

DA Languages Manchester (12/2020 until now)
