Bio
Having grown up between Spain and Jordan, and attended British and international schools, I was naturally attracted to languages and had planted the idea in my head that I'd someday be a UN translator...ok, maybe I was aiming too high, but the point is that I've been determined to be a translator since the age of 12, and have never given up this dream despite some of the difficulties I've had.
Due to several reasons, I wasn't able to major in Translation like I've always wanted to, but majored in English instead. I graduated from the University of Málaga with honours and obtained the BA in English. I immediately started working in a business centre, where one of my main tasks was to work as an interpreter for the centre's clients. I was also the business centre's Spanish - English translator, translating web pages, CVs, scripts, letters and other types of documents.
I then went on to work as a teacher in a well-known language school in the Costa del Sol (south of Spain). I was one of the main English teachers, teaching English to groups of children, teenagers and adults, from beginner to First Certificate level. I also taught Spanish to foreigners and Arabic to beginners.
After my 2-year experience as a teacher, I decided that it was about time to take a step forward in my career as a translator. Therefore I decided to enrol in an online translation course offered by International House Barcelona, and have been busy with it since February. I hope that this course gives me the opportunity to show the world my professionalism as a translator, and takes me one step further to being a respectable UN translator..¡soñar no cuesta nada!
