Source text - Norwegian „Nordområdene er ikke en presis geografisk definisjon. Det omfatter våre nærområder av det store arktiske området som går rundt klodens nordligste halvkule. I tiden framover vil det bli økt oppmerksomhet rettet mot området helt opp mot Nordpolen, blant annet som følge av prosessen for å avklare hvor langt nordover de arktiske randstatenes kontinentalsokler strekker seg. Det vil føre til at også norsk oppmerksomhet trekkes nordover. Nordområdene blir da et enda videre begrep.“
Translation - German „Der Begriff „Nordgebiete” ist keine präzise geographische Definition. Er umfasst unsere Nahgebiete im großen arktischen Gebiet, welches sich rund um den nördlichsten Teil der Erdkugel erstreckt. In Zukunft wird dem Gebiet zunehmende Aufmerksamkeit zuteil, unter anderem als Folge des Prozesses zur Feststellung dessen, wie weit Richtung Norden sich die Kontinentalsockel der Anrainerstaaten erstrecken. Dies wird dazu führen, dass auch Norwegens Aufmerksamkeit Richtung Norden gerichtet wird. Die Nordgebiete werden dann zu einem noch weiteren Begriff.“
